Why does the UV/LED lamp power supply matter so much? Impact on curing and manicure durability
Does any power supply fit a UV/LED lamp? See why the right adapter parameters (24 V DC, 2 A) are crucial for proper curing, manicure durability and lamp lifespan.
At first glance it may seem that if the plug fits and the lamp turns on, everything is working properly. Unfortunately, our observations and the analysis of service reports show that this is not the case.
We come across situations where power supplies from other devices are used with lamps. Most often because they are already plugged into a power strip or were left over from a previous lamp. While this is understandable, it can lead to problems that are hard to link to the power supply at first glance. This rule applies not only to lamps, but to all electrical devices you use every day.
The lamp works… but is it working properly?
The fact that the display lights up, the timer runs and the diodes emit light does not yet mean that the lamp is reaching its nominal operating parameters.
Every lamp has been designed to work with a specific power supply. For the lamps on offer, these are parameters such as:
- 24 V DC (supply voltage),
- 2 A (current).
A power supply with a lower current rating, e.g. 1 A or 1.5 A, will also start the lamp, but it does not ensure proper operation of the device.
What are the consequences of using the wrong power supply?
For the nail stylist:
- incomplete or improper curing of products,
- reduced durability of the manicure,
- discoloration of the cured material, wrinkling of the product,
- application problems that are difficult to diagnose.
For the lamp as a device (this is operation outside its intended parameters):
- faster wear of components,
- higher risk of failure,
- possible loss of warranty coverage in the case of damage caused by using the wrong power supply.
What about higher voltage?
There are also cases of using power supplies with a voltage higher than the 24 V DC specified by the manufacturer. Such a lamp may initially work, but it operates outside its design parameters. This can negatively affect both the durability of the device and the curing process.
Our recommendation
We strongly recommend using the original power supply included with the lamp.

It is a small detail that has a huge impact on work safety, proper curing, the durability of the manicure and the lifespan of the lamp itself. It is worth taking a moment to check the markings on the power supply - the solution to the problem is often found right there.
