EXPRES MANI - express hybrid styling - mani and pedi

Hybrid styling is one of the most popular salon treatments. 4 proven workflows with Grafen Base Color, Speed Base and Fiber Base - from ultra-fast for advanced techs to long-lasting salon work. Plus a simplified pedicure workflow.

Introduction

Hybrid styling is one of the most popular treatments in nail salons - and not without reason. It’s the perfect solution for clients who want a natural effect, aesthetics and wearing comfort, while also caring for their hands and feet in a fast and convenient way.

Who is this article for?

We’ve written this post for nail technicians who:

  • want to speed up their work in the salon
  • do styling on short, natural nails
  • prefer minimalism and natural effects
  • work with clients who can’t always wear intense colors
  • want a coherent look on hands and feet

It’s also a great solution for beginners - with the right base selection, you can create beautiful styling using a minimum number of products.

One of the most versatile products in this category is Grafen Base Color - a base you’ll use at many stages of work, both in manicure and pedicure.

How to work with hybrid bases?

4 proven workflows

Given the wide product range, below you’ll find systematized workflows that will help you match the right system to the client’s needs.

Hybrid base workflows

WORKFLOW 1 - ultra-fast styling - ONLY FOR ADVANCED USERS

In this workflow we skip the anchor layer, eliminating one step and speeding up the work. However, this carries risk, because no gel product is applied immediately after dehydrating the nail plate to ensure proper bonding with its surface. The time between preparation and application is extended, which is why this method is only for advanced techs who work very fast and consciously, who can match their pace and workflow to the nail type so that the leveling layer is applied quickly enough for the plate to remain dry and maintain adhesion.

This solution is ideal for:

  • ultra-express styling
  • advanced techs
  • pedicure

WORKFLOW 2 - fast styling (minimum products)

In this workflow we use Grafen Base Color for both the anchor and leveling layers, which significantly simplifies the styling process and reduces the number of needed products. It’s the perfect solution for beginners working on themselves or a small number of clients, who don’t want to invest in an extensive product range. Thanks to the low pigment content, the product retains good binding properties with the nail plate while giving a very natural effect - subtle color evening, light enhancement and a delicate “filter” on the nail.

ANCHOR LAYER - thin base layer, spread evenly across the entire nail plate and cured in the lamp.

This solution is ideal for:

  • express styling
  • beginners
  • working on your own nails

WORKFLOW 3 - greater durability and adhesion

Difference from workflow 2: we add a clear anchor layer that increases adhesion and styling safety.

We recommend this solution for:

  • clients with problematic nail plates
  • styling that requires greater durability
  • salon work where we want 100% certainty

WORKFLOW 4 - alternative with Speed / Fiber bases

In this option you can match the product to the client’s needs:

If a flexible base (e.g. Speed) cracks or lifts on the client - it’s worth reaching for a harder product, e.g. Fiber or Grafen Base Color.

Remember

Hybrid styling is a system based on flexible products, which are naturally more susceptible to mechanical damage.

That’s why the hybrid system won’t be the right solution for every client. In some cases switching to harder products is necessary.

In such situations we recommend, e.g.:

Express pedicure styling

Hybrid styling on feet allows for even greater simplification of work - without losing durability.

The toenail plate:

  • has a different structure (often more porous)
  • offers better adhesion conditions
  • is less exposed to mechanical damage than hands
  • is protected by footwear, which provides additional protection

This allows us to shorten the styling process.

Simplified workflow - pedicure

After thorough nail plate preparation, working on the plate, cuticles and pterygium:

Dehydrator or Multifunction Liquid → Base (Speed / Fiber / Grafen Base Color) → Top

We can skip additional steps while maintaining the durability of the styling.

Key rules for styling on feet

  • The nail must be healthy
  • The nail must be cut down maximally to the fingertip
  • The styling must be very thin

Why is this so important?

Pressure builds up on the nail plate inside footwear.

Styling that’s too thick or a nail that’s too long can cause:

  • discomfort
  • pressure
  • styling issues
  • pathological conditions of the nail plate

That’s why we apply the product thinly - just to even out the surface and give it an aesthetic color.

Consistency of styling - hands and feet

In hybrid styling you can successfully use the same products on hands and feet. This way you:

  1. create a coherent effect
  2. save time and products
  3. work faster and more efficiently

By matching products well, you can work faster, more efficiently and more consciously - regardless of experience level.
